Juventus’ Nicolo Fagioli under investigation for illegal betting

Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli is being investigated for illegal betting and could be at risk of a long ban from the sport.

Giovanni Albanese has reported that Fagioli allegedly bet on illegal platforms, according to what was verified by the investigators who cross-referenced the accesses of his and numerous other profiles. Gambling is usually not a crime unless it is done on illegal platforms and an athlete can’t bet on the sport that he plays.

The police have traced the Juventus player as part of an investigation opened in recent months by the Turin Prosecutor’s Office and the file is in the hands of the public prosecutor Manuela Pedrotta. Investigators are trying to clarify how Fagioli operated and what he actually bet on and if he really bet or not.

A possible violation of the sporting code will led to a sanction, which means that Fagioli could be banned from playing the sport for three years or more.  Juve have already seen Paul Pogba’s B test return positive in the doping case and he is likely to be banned from the sport too.
