Juventus still in contact for Kalvin Phillips amidst Newcastle interest

Kalvin Phillips may be about to have his career resurrected as Marco Conterio has reported that Juventus are nearing an agreement with Manchester City to land him on loan.

Contacts with City remain ongoing for Juve, with the Englishman having already given his approval to the move. Both the clubs are negotiating the percentage of wages they would share in a loan deal.

Phillips moved to Manchester City in the summer of 2022 from Leeds but has since started only two Premier League games. At 28 years of age and with the Euros coming up in the summer, it is no surprise that Phillips is keen on the loan to Juve.

The Old Lady are without Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli, as the trio of Weston McKennie, Adrien Rabiot and Manuel Locatelli are being worked tirelessly. Midfield recruitment in January would certainly be a smart move, especially if Juve have serious title a mbitions.

Newcastle have also thrown their hat into the ring to acquire Phillipsโ€™ signature and it is thought that the Englishman would be happy to stay in the Premier League if he was guaranteed a starting spot. Eddie Howeโ€™s team are undergoing an injury crisis and need some strength in midfield.
