Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri casts doubts over Luis Alberto fitness ahead of huge Rome derby

Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri has, late on Tuesday, provided fitness updates on two key members of his squad.

This comes, for those who may have missed it, after Luis Alberto and Mattia Zaccagni picked up respective injury problems during the Biancocelesti’s Champions League meeting with Feyenoord.

En route to an eventual 1-0 victory, Zaccagni was forced into a premature departure just beyond the hour mark. Alberto, on the other hand, managed to see out the 90 minutes, but could be seen in evident discomfort post-match.

Speaking to the media on the back of proceedings coming to a close at the Stadio Olimpico, it therefore came as little surprise when the wellbeing of the pair was put to boss Maurizio Sarri.

This comes with Lazio’s next outing set to come against arch rivals Roma this weekend.

And Sarri’s ensuing update is unlikely to provide much comfort to those of a Biancocelesti persuasion.

‘In the last 20 minutes we could have even hurt them on the restarts, let’s hope we didn’t pay a heavy price because we came away with some injuries. Zaccagni and Luis Alberto? There’s a bit of concern,’ the Italian explained to Sky Sport, via Tuttomercatoweb.

The latest edition of the Derby della Capitale will play out this Sunday, November 12th, at 6pm Italian time.
