Lazio make contact for Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto

The transfer team at Lazio have identified Wilfried Gnonto as a prime target for the January transfer window.

That’s according to Daniele Longo, who have provided a fresh insight into the future of Leeds United’s wantaway Italian international on Thursday.

After missing out on a move to Everton in the summer, it is claimed that Gnonto is now ready to push for a transfer once more following the turn of the year. In fact, the youngster has gone as far as to ask his agents to seek out suitors, in a bid to secure a return to Serie A in January.

Roma were the first club contacted, albeit with the Giallorossi having made clear that they are not interested at present, instead focusing their attentions on defensive reinforcements with a view to the 2nd half of the term.

And this stance appears to have opened the door to the capital’s other headline club.

Calciomercato reveal that Lazio, and boss Maurizio Sarri, are huge fans of Gnonto’s talents, therefore keen to strike a deal with their Leeds counterparts.

A meeting between the two parties recently took place, with a €25 million price-tag having been quoted.

Lazio deem as much to be excessive, with a 2nd meeting therefore planned, during which the Biancocelesti will attempt to negotiate a reduced fee.
