Man Utd ready to offer high salary to Kim Min-Jae as Napoli attempt contract adjustment

Napoli are attempting to hand Kim Min-Jae a new contract at the club but Manchester United are willing to offer him a higher wage in a contract.

La Repubblica have reported about Kim’s situation, stating that Kim’s current deal has a release clause of around €60 million and it applies to foreign clubs only. That figure does not scare the two clubs that are interested and they are Manchester United and Manchester City.

But Aurelio de Laurentiis does not want to lose the South Korean and that is why, on the 10th of May, there was contact between De Laurentiis and Kim’s agent. The idea was to review the current deal, increase his wages and release clause.

As of now though, United are keen. Napoli’s salary readjustment will not take Kim’s wages beyond €4.5 million per season but United will be willing to hand him a wage of €7 million per season. He currently earns €2 million per season.  Pep Guardiola, meanwhile, likes Kim a lot. He believes that the South Korean can replace Aymeric Laporte, who is leaving this summer. De Laurentiis wants to try his best to make him stay at the Partenopei this summer.

Kim is expected to undergo military training during the summer and with Napoli heading to South Korea during their pre-season, the defender could undergo the training during the period when his release clause becomes active.
