Man Utd’s Mason Greenwood will not join Lazio

Serie A side Lazio will not complete the signing of Manchester United outcast Mason Greenwood this summer.

United have already severed ties with the Englishman and he is expected to depart the club in some capacity soon. Lazio were holding talks with his agent today and club president Claudio Lotito was quite keen on signing the 21-year-old forward.

La Lazio Siamo Noi now reported that the move will not go through and there are no margins at all for the parties to reach an agreement over a transfer. Economic reasons aren’t why the move didn’t go through, as Lazio considered signing him to be financially viable.

There were two key reasons for why the move didn’t go through. The first one pertains to how the media and the club’s fans would’ve reacted to the move, considered Greenwood’s recent past. Secondly, Maurizio Sarri didn’t want the player and his decision was going to be key.

Sarri believes that Greenwood’s character issues were not going to have a positive impact on the squad and that he hasn’t played for two years because the legal issues surrounding him.
