Marcelo Gallardo’s intermediaries contact Napoli

The intermediaries of ex-River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo have made contact with Napoli.

Il Mattino have provided an update about Napoli’s managerial situation, stating that Napoli are in contact with Paulo Sousa and Aurelio de Laurentiis was left very impressed by his Salernitana side last season. The reason why he is a concrete option is because Napoli would have to pay a very cheap fee to Salernitana to sign the Portuguese.

But De Laurentiis is only exploring his options and by today, he will make his choices and stop exploring for more names. Rudi Garcia remains in the race and in recent days, Gallardo’s intermediaries have been in touch with the Partenopei and have informed the club about his availability as a free agent.

Despite De Laurentiis’ friendship with Rafa Benitez, he is indifferent to the idea of hiring him. Antonio Conte, Luis Enrique and Thiago Motta didn’t fancy the job, with Vincenzo Italiano having committed his future to the club.

Roberto Mancini is an interesting choice because his entourage have given positive signs about a move to Napoli. Julian Nagelsmann impressed De Laurentiis in the contact made between the two parties but the CEO knows that Napoli isn’t his priority.

There has been talk that De Laurentiis will pick the next manager on the 27th of June but he will do it well before that date, as he tries to make a choice next week.
