Milan boss Stefano Pioli admits defeat in Scudetto race

Milan boss Stefano Pioli has admitted that the Rossoneri are now out of the chase for the Scudetto this season.

Milan picked up a 5-2 loss to Sassuolo and depending on how results go in the rest of the games, they will drop out of the top four. They recently failed to beat Lecce, Roma and had also picked up a 4-0 loss to Lazio.

After the 5-2 hammering at the hands at the Neroverdi, Pioli spoke to the press and gave his views about the team’s season and the Scudetto race, with Napoli at the top of the league.

He told Sky (via TMW): “Now we have to react. We probably won’t be able to win the Scudetto again, our Scudetto will be fighting for the Champions League and we have the opportunity to achieve this again.”

Milan are currently at fourth in the table, only one ahead of Lazio, who take on Fiorentina in what could be a high-octane clash later today. If they win, the Rossoneri will be out of the top four and they could go down to sixth, if Roma end up beating Napoli in the late night clash.
