Milan close to signing Sevilla’s Rafa Mir

Milan have given up on Patson Daka, and turned their attention to Sevilla’s Rafa Mir. Sky Italia have reported that Mir has given his approval to the transfer. Now Milan must agree the details with Sevilla, and a transfer can be finalised.

The deal that is being arranged is in the form of a loan. The Spanish striker scored six La Liga goals last season, from 16 starts. The 26 year old opened his league account this season last week, in Sevilla’s 4-3 loss to Deportivo Alaves.

Mir is open to leaving after seeing himself on the bench in place of Youssef En-Nesyri. Mir has not yet started a league game, and is in favour of a change in scenery in Italy. Olivier Giroud has been a very able starter for Milan thus far, but at 36 years of age the Rossoneri cannot solely rely on him. He has however made a fantastic start to the season, with three goals in the first two games.
