Milan see Ignazio Abate as interim option in case of Stefano Pioli’s exit

Milan are expected to part ways with manager Stefano Pioli in the next few days and appoint Ignazio Abate on a short-term contract.

According to a report by Gianluca Di Marzio, the Christmas holidays will give Milan officials to decide on the future of their current coach, Stefano Pioli. “We have lost the magic,” were the words of the Italian manager who was clueless as his side drew 2-2 against lowly Salernitana.

This season’s performances haven’t been convincing of the Rossoneri and it is believed that Pioli’s tactics aren’t doing their expected work. They have been plagued with injuries this campaign and while they are still sitting 3rd in the Serie A standings, it isn’t enough to mount a title challenge later on.

Former player and senior advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to play an influential role in presenting a new plan to the management for a new coach. Pioli and his coaching staff are on the brink of getting sacked as Milan are hoping for an internal solution.

Primavera coach Ignazio Abate is being considered as an option to be handed over first-team duties soon but on an interim basis. It is a wise decision to not land a new coach in the middle of the season with numerous injuries at hand.
