Milan set to hold Mike Maignan renewal talks

Milan are set to hold discussions with the representatives of goalkeeper Mike Maignan over a renewal of his current contract.

According to Calciomercato’s Daniele Longo, the club are keen to set up a sit down meeting with the player and his intermediaries within the next 10 days to 2 weeks in the hope of thrashing out a contract extension.

Since the Frenchman arrived from Lille in the summer of 2021, Maignan has established himself as one of Europe’s best goalkeepers, winning the Scudetto in his first term as the Rossonieri’s number one.

Stefano Pioli’s men had to spend a significant portion of mid season without him last term and this led to a dip in form for Milan who ended up finishing in fourth in their attempts to defend their title that they had won the previous season.

News of discussions over a new deal will be music to the ears of Milan fans who have recently lost Sandro Tonali in a big move to the Premier League and will be keen to ensure their first choice stopper can avoid being poached by a more lucrative offer from the Premier League or even Saudi Arabia.
