Serie A side Monza are interested in the possibility of signing former Barcelona defender and World Cup winner Samuel Umtiti, who is currently a free agent.
Gianluca di Marzio has reported that Monza are looking to bolster their backline this summer as they look to potentially go a step above from where they were last season. Armando Izzo has already joined and they are now looking to sign Umtiti this summer, after the Frenchman had a rather impressive loan stint last season at Lecce.
Talks between the two parties are underway but they are yet to conclude. Monza are yet to make the decisive step forward to close the deal but they have the intention of signing him. As a result, the decisive step could come soon.
Barcelona terminated Umtiti’s contract, after he played 25 Serie A appearances for Lecce and his stock went up once again after it was stuck a low-point after injuries at the Catalan side.
