Napoli CEO hails Barcelona following Champions League draw

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has this evening provided his reaction to the club’s mouth-watering upcoming Champions League Last-16 tie.

The draw for the knockout rounds of European football’s elite club competition, of course, took place earlier today.

The continent’s heavyweights, for the most part, managed to avoid one another, with reigning champions Manchester City set to take on Copenhagen, Real Madrid paired with RB Leipzig, and Lazio awaiting Bayern Munich.

Five-time winners Barcelona, though, will certainly not have it easy in their efforts to carve out a quarter-final berth.

The Blaugrana will be forced to contend with Scudetto holders Napoli, in what many a neutral have already labelled the tie of the round.

Speaking to the media after his side’s fate being confirmed, the aforementioned Aurelio De Laurentiis was in turn asked for his thoughts on Napoli’s impending showdown with Barca.

And the Italian patron appeared equally excited as fans across Europe.

As cited by TuttomercatoWeb, De Laurentiis confirmed his happiness, before labelling the La Liga giants ‘a proper team’:

“Very much so [I’m happy]. That is a proper team, like ours.”
