Napoli hold talks for Salernitana boss Paulo Sousa

Serie A champions Napoli continue to hunt for a new manager and Paulo Sousa is the latest name to be of interest to CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis.

Gianluca di Marzio (via Corriere della Sera) has reported that Sousa is now a very concrete option for the Napoli hotseat, having taken Salernitana to safety and coaching them into a well-drilled system as well.

Salernitana sporting director Morgan de Sanctis did confirm some days ago that Sousa will remain as the club’s manager for next season, De Laurentiis held talks with the manager about a potential move. To terminate Sousa’s current deal, Napoli would have to pay €1 million to release him from his duties at Salerno.

But the excellent relations between De Laurentiis and club owner Danilo Iervolino could help in the move going through.

Napoli have already failed in the pursuits of Luis Enrique, Julian Nagelsmann and Thiago Motta, with Vincenzo Italiano also set to stay at Fiorentina for atleast another season.
