Newcastle United midfielder will now serve his suspension and he will not be available for the clubโs game against Wolves, as FIFA have extended his ban worldwide.
Tonali was handed a ten-month-long ban and a period of therapy after it and the expectation was that he would stay out for the remainder of the season for club and country, while also missing the Euros in 2024. He would start training in August next year.
James Horncastle has now confirmed that FIFA have ratified the FIGC decision to hand Tonali a ban, extending the suspension worldwide. This means that Tonaliโs suspension has begun and he will not be available for the game against Wolves tomorrow for the Magpies.
Tonali had started the season well, scoring a goal minutes into his first-team debut. He even featured against Milan at the San Siro, helping the Magpies get a vital point away from home in their return to the Champions League.
