Newcastle Utd’s Sandro Tonali after goalless draw against Milan: “I’ll remember it forever”

Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali has revealed that he will never forget his new club’s game against Milan at the San Siro in the Champions League.

The game turned out to be a goalless draw in which the Rossoneri missed a raft of good chances. Tonali started the game but was taken off later in the second half, as he returned to the San Siro months after having left Milan for a big-money fee to join the Premier League side.

The 23-year-old spoke to Sky Italia (via Gianluca di Marzio) after the game and revealed that it was a special occasion for him and he would never forget the game involving his current side and his boyhood club.

“San Siro? You expect it to be beautiful, but then it’s always different. The match day is different and it went by quicker . I enjoyed it all, minute by minute, I’ll remember it forever.”

Tonali also revealed that he still has a lot of passion for Milan and he can never hide it. He stated: “Am I still linked to Milan? I don’t want to answer you to please people but yes. I can’t hide my passion for Milan, I didn’t do it in Brescia and I’m not doing it in Newcastle. It would be useless and even bad to hide it.”

Tonali was given a standing ovation by the Milan fans when his name was announced and he was given a warm applause when he had gone off in the second half, which shows that there is still a special connection between him and the Rossoneri faithfuls.
