Milan manager Stefano Pioli has officially been announced as the recipient of the prestigious Panchina d’Oro award for his achievements during the 2021/22 season.
Pioli received his award today at the prestigious Federal Technical Center of Coverciano headquarters in Florence as he succeeded 4-time winner Antonio Conte to the trophy. This award is the first major individual accolade received by the Rossoneri manager in his managerial career mostly because of his leadership in steering Milan to the Scudetto last season.
The Panchina d’Oro trophy came into being in 1991 as an acknowledgement given by journalists from Italy to the best Serie A coach. Apart from the vote of the journalists, from the 2005/06 season, it was introduced that fellow coaches would also vote for the winner as it would bring harmony between the professionals and acknowledge each others’ work.
Stefano Pioli is clearly the deserved winner of this trophy for this term as he led Milan to a strong and composed season before winning the league at the end of it.
