Roma have now sealed and confirmed the signing of former Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.
The Giallorossi have confirmed that the Frenchman has arrived at the Stadio Olimpico on a free transfer after his contract at Lyon expired. He has now signed a five-year deal with the Giallorossi, who were said to have sealed their move for him some weeks ago.
Aouar, in an interview, with the club’s website, stated that it is the right project for him and lauded Roma’s heritage and history. Club sporting director Tiago Pinto revealed that Roma managed to seal Aouar’s signature despite interest from a host of other clubs and that gives him a lot of satisfaction.
Aouar is a product of the Lyon youth academy and for the senior team, he made 179 Ligue 1 appearances, with 30 goals and 24 assists. He also played 34 games and racked up 5 goals in European competitions, including in the Champions League and the Europa League. He will wear the number 22 for the club.
