Before PSG kicked off against Nice tonight in Ligue 1, they gave Marco Verratti a lovely send off.
As reported by Sky Italia, the Parisians took to the field for the warm-up wearing jerseys with the inscription ‘Merci Marco’. The Italian midfielder was given a golden plaque with the number 6.
The celebration of his PSG career didn’t end there however. There was then a video containing messages from many former PSG players and champions, from Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Ezequiel Lavezzi.
Verratti made 416 appearances for PSG and won 30 trophies during his time at the French giants. He is a true legend, and will be sorely missed as he starts his new journey in Qatar, playing for Al-Arabi.
PSG themselves have no time to rue the loss of their star midfielder. They are playing catch up in the league, as Monaco have made a fantastic start to the season with 10 points from the first three games.
