Paul Pogba’s counter analysis postponed in doping case

The results of Paul Pogba’s counter-analysis will now arrive at a later time than what was initially expected.

The Frenchman requested for his counter-analysis yesterday, as he attempts to avoid a huge four-year ban after he was tested positive for testosterone after Juventus’ Serie A opener against Udinese. 

ANSA (Via Sky Italia) now state that initially, the results of the counter-analysis were expected on the 20th of September. But now, the results will arrive on the 5th of October and the midfielder will know about his fate about 15 days late. The reason for this delay is the unavailability of the player at that point.

Once the counter-analysis is done, the case will move to the investigation phase of the anti-doping prosecutor’s office. As of now, there are three scenarios: dismissal of the case, plea bargaining or trial before the national anti-doping tribunal. If Pogba is convicted, the ban will be of two years if the authorities can’t establish that the consumption of the substance was not intentional.
