Potential results of Juventus’ appeal against 15 points deduction

Juventus will know between today and tomorrow the response of their appeal against the 15 points deduction handed out to them on March 12th.

CONI’s Collegio di Garanzia dello Sport, the last degree in Italy’s sport justice, will held their meeting this afternoon with a verdict expected this evening or no later than tomorrow.

Juventus have been punished for irregularities in their finance books between 2019 and 2021 as they have been found guilty of using several fictitious capital gains to cover some gaps.

Those operations have been labelled as “mirror operations”, which means that Juventus swapped players with another club for an inflated value and without effectively moving money.

As reported by Sky Sport, there are three possibile outcomes. In one, the deduction could be entirely removed: in this scenario Juventus will get back 15 points and jump from the seventh to the third place in Serie A’s table with a six points margin over the fifth place, fully in contention for a Champions League’s spot.

Nevertheless, it is possibile that the deduction could stay or that Collegio di Garanzia could postpone their decision by forcing Corte d’Appello Federale, the second degree in Italy’s sport justice who sentenced Juventus, to fix any formal defects in their verdict.

In this case, Juventus will temporarily get back their 15 points waiting for Collegio di Garanzia’s response.
