QSI confirm interest in Sampdoria: “We are evaluating investment opportunities”

Qatar Sports Investments have confirmed that they are interested in owning a stake in Italian side Sampdoria.

It was reported in France earlier today that QSI are interested in owning Sampdoria in a partnership agreement with current Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani, who has already presented a dossier to the Qataris. Samp are in financial trouble and are said to be on the verge of bankruptcy.

Il Secolo XIX recently spoke a spokesperson at QSI, who confirmed their interest in the Genoa-based outfit. The spokesperson told the local newspaper:

“There will be no denial, we are evaluating investment opportunities. The QSI has been pursuing a growth project for some time. We are doing it in the padel, where we are in close contact with the international president of the Federation. And we are doing it in football, following the increasingly widespread concept of network timeshare. We recently got Braga, acquiring around 22%. We have some situations that we are observing in South America, we have been following Malaga in Spain for a while.”

Radrizzani and Nasser Al-Khelaifi are said to have an excellent relationship, with the Italian having been a guest at the QSI president’s box VIP box during the FIFA World Cup.

Il Secolo XIX state that a decisive moment in Samp’s takeover has arrived, because the wages of the players have to be paid by next week or they will face a points deduction. Radrizzani and those around him are working closely with those at Samp, as things stand.
