Rafael Leão expected to be fit for Champions League Milan derby despite injury scare

Milan star Rafael Leão is expected to be fit for the upcoming Champions League semi-finals against Inter.

The Portuguese did start against Lazio earlier today but he was taken off early by Stefano Pioli, as he seemed to have picked up a muscle injury. While there were concerns about whether the injury could rule him out of the big first leg against Inter in the Champions League, Daniele Longo has reported that this might not be the case.

Longo reports that Leão only suffered from a minor case of muscle fatigue against the Biancocelesti and tests will be run tomorrow. But there is a fair bit of optimism that the Portugal international will be fit for the first leg and then the second leg against the Nerazzurri.

The ex-Lille man has been vital for Milan in the Champions League, as he put in vital performances against Napoli and also proved very important in playing on the counter against Tottenham. Without him, Milan’s attack would be quite blunt in European competitions.
