Rino Gattuso edges close to Saudi Arabia move

Gennaro Gattuso is in advanced discussions to become the coach of one of the Saudi Arabian clubs.

As per Gianluca DiMarzio, the 2006 World Cup-winning midfielder is in discussions to be the next manager of a club in Saudi Arabia and a move is edging closer.

Gattuso’s last job was at Spain where he was the manager of La Liga side Valencia. He was sacked in January 2023, after he lost his cool with the fans just after 7 months after taking the job.

Super agent Jorge Mendes is not in discussions with any club and rather, he is discussing the financial package with the Saudi Arabian Prime Minister. Once that is finalized the football projects of various Saudi Arabian Football Clubs will be presented to Gattuso, from which he can any project he would like.

The negotiation has been underway for several hours and are now in an advanced state. The real negotiation is not taking place between the coach and a single club, but directly with the Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia. For several weeks, in fact, the country has been working concretely to raise the level of its football championship, bringing important coaches and players to the Saudi League teams (the last in chronological order is Kalidou Koulibaly to Al-Hilal ).

This will be Gattuso’s first destination outside Europe after his spells in Serie A with AC Milan, Napoli, and In La Liga with Valencia CF.
