Roma gain momentum in hope of landing Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku

Serie A side Roma are gaining momentum in their move to potentially sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.

Roma have signed Sardar Azmoun but Lukaku was said to be their ‘dream’, when it comes to fixing the striker issue. Gianluca di Marzio has reported that Roma would only like to sign Lukaku if they can land him on an initial loan deal with the obligation to buy.

Initially, Chelsea only wanted a permanent exit but with time running out to sell the asset, the Blues could soon consider loan deals for the Belgian. They are slowly opening up to the possibility of a temporary exit.

That has given Roma hope of landing the player, as they can execute a deal of that type. They would be interested in paying the wages and a minimum loan fee for the Belgian even though they won’t be the only side that will be competing for his signature, if Chelsea do open up to let Lukaku depart on loan. Milan could also be one of the clubs that make a move for him, if the Blues do allow a loan exit.
