Roma make contract renewal offer for Chris Smalling

Roma have now made an attempt to renew Chris Smallingโ€™s contract at the club.

Il Messaggero (via TMW) state today that while Roma had initially made a contract offer worth โ‚ฌ2.5 million per season, that has now increased. Interest from the Premier League has made sure that the Giallorossiโ€™s new offer stands at โ‚ฌ3.5 million per season, with Smallingโ€™s current deal expiring in the summer transfer window.

There is a high likelihood that the Englishman says โ€˜yesโ€™ to the offer on the table and stays at the club, despite links with Inter and Juventus. So far, he has not given any definitive answers but it is expected to arrive soon.

Things are different for his defensive teammates Roger Ibanez and Gianluca Mancini. The Italian renewed his deal last summer till the summer of 2027, whereas Ibanez has a deal till the summer of 2025 and he has a release clause stands at โ‚ฌ70 million right now.
