The current ownership at Roma is said to be split about the decision to hand Jose Mourinho a new contract.
The Giallorossi recently picked up a 2-0 win over Napoli, who were down to nine men in the game. While the win was vital, Roma remained sixth in the Serie A table.ย
Mourinho has already made it clear that he wants to sign a new deal and La Repubblica report that the decision isnโt as straight forward for the Giallorossi. The feeling is that while Mourinho has united a massive majority of the fanbase, that isnโt quite the case for the Friedkins.
The Olimpico venerates the Portuguese, but the Friedkins arenโt truly happy and that is bringing about doubts about a renewal. Some actions from Mourinho arenโt liked by the Friedkins and those actions are usually the ones where he comes across as confrontational. A part of the ownership isntโ a fan of all of that, even though they have discreetly been adapting to it for a while now.
The father-son pairing in the ownership doesnโt see eye to eye, when it comes to a decision around Mourinho. Some at the ownership would like a change, while others do not want to see a loss of the heritage that Roma have acquired under Jose. The club continues to reflect and they will make a decision later in the season.
