Roma set to exercise Nemanja Matić’s contract renewal

Roma are now set to extend Nemanja Matić’s contract for another year and he is now expected to stay at the club till the summer of 2024.

Sky Italia state that the Serbian’s current deal has an option for automatic renewal for another year and the Giallorossi have now triggered that option already. The current contract says that Matić will renew for another season if he plays 40 percent of the total games in the campaign and playing atleast 45 minutes in those games.

The ex-Manchester United midfielder has met that mark in the game against Sassuolo, who managed to beat Jose Mourinho’s side a couple of weeks ago.

Matić has made 26 appearances in all competitions this season for Roma, starting 13 times. He has played over 1400 minutes as well, having registered one goal and two assists in Serie A and doing quite well for Mourinho’s outfit. Roma are expected to play about 55 games in the whole season and Matić has played enough to renew his deal.
