Salernitana show interest in Spurs’ Pape Matar Sarr

Corriere Della Sera have reported that Salernitana are waiting on Spurs’ young Senegalese midfielder Pape Matar Sarr as they look to strengthen in the January transfer window.

Sarr is a signing which will have Salernitana fans dreaming, due to the fact the Tottenham youngster is believed to have extremely high potential.

Having signed for Spurs as an 18-year-old, Sarr hasn’t quite excelled to date, making only two appearances for the club, totalling 34′ minutes.

He did however spend the 2021/22 season on loan at Metz in which he enjoyed regular game time, making 33 appearances for the club, averaging a 6.8 rating according to SofaScore.

A loan move for Sarr would likely be welcomed by the hierarchy at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, who would be eager for Sarr to gain more experience playing at a first team level. Game time which he is unlikely to get at Spurs, with midfielders ahead of him such as Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
