Salernitanaโ€™s Paolo Sousa on Pasquale Mazzocchi after draw v Napoli: โ€œHeโ€™s Champions League qualityโ€

Salernitana boss Paolo Sousa had big praise for the clubโ€™s full-back Pasquale Mazzocchi after the Salerno-based side held neighbours Napoli to a 1-1 draw at the Maradona.

At one point, it seemed as if Napoli were going to celebrate their third Scudetto in history but Boulaye Diaโ€™s late equaliser made sure that the celebrations were delayed for atleast three days. Salernitana also had a late chance to win the game but it ended 1-1 in dramatic circumstances.

The game saw Mazzocchi put in an impressive performance and that wasnโ€™t the first time that the Azzurri player has done well in big games. In the post-game press conference, Sousa had big praise for the full-back.

โ€œIโ€™ve already expressed my opinion on him, Pasquale is a player on Champions League levels. The more consistency he has, the more decisive he is. Daniliuc helped him a lot, but everyone showed humility and work. Under pressure he manages to jump the man , is also decisive on crosses. Mazzocchi is an important player.โ€

The 27-year-old has been linked with a host of clubs across Italy this season. He has made 21 games in Serie A and he has come up with two goals and has racked up a couple of assists as well. Sousaโ€™s side are 14th in the table and with six games to go, are seven points clear of the drop.
