Sergej Milinkovic-Savic unlikely to sign new Lazio contract

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is unlikely to sign a new deal at the Biancocelesti but he is expected to stay at the club in January.

Milinkovic-Savic has been linked with a move to Juventus in recent weeks, with reports also stating that personal terms between the two parties not expected to be an issue. Manchester United were also said to be interested in the summer transfer window.

Sky Italia have assessed the Serbian’s situation at the Biancocelesti, who are prioritising contract renewals in the next few weeks. The topic of Milinkovic-Savic is expected to be key for the club, with the Roman outfit preparing to offer a new deal for the player.

Their offer, in total, will be valued at close to €5 million per season but the chances of Milinkovic-Savic agreeing to sign that deal are quite low. There is no tension between the parties but if Claudio Lotito fails to agree terms by the summer, Lazio would have to make a decision around either losing Milinkovic-Savic for free in 2024 or selling him in 2023 for a low price.

Despite previous rumours though, he will not leave in January.
