Udinese advance in move for Hibernian’s Ryan Porteous

Udinese are interested in signing Hibernian centre-back Ryan Porteous and it is likely that the move goes through.

Porteous has been linked with a host of Championship and Scottish sides in recent years and Marco Conterio has reported that he is someone Udinese are keen on in their attempt to replace Bram Nuytinck, who has joined Sampdoria.

In the last few hours, they have tried to close the deal for the defender, whose contract at Hibs expires in the summer of 2023 and he has already informed the club that he will not sign a new deal. Championship clubs and Bologna were interested in the Scotsman but Udinese now want to finalise the move.

The most likely scenario is that Porteous will join Udinese right away but there is also a lingering possibility of him joining Watford, the Pozzo family’s second club, in the summer transfer window and follow a path that a lot of other Udinese players that traced in the past.
