3 Wendell alternatives that Juventus could target this summer

Juventus could be set for an interesting summer transfer window ahead, as they’re seemingly already targeting new recruits ahead of the 2023/24 season, where they’ll be looking to strengthen their squad, as they look to win the Serie A title, which they look as though they’re set to lose this term.

It’s been reported that Juventus are targeting Porto full-back, Wendell, who has caught the eye with some strong performances for the Portuguese giants this season. The Brazilian has been with FC Porto since 2021, but could be on the move to Italy with Juventus. However, there are many other options out there this summer in a similar position, and BonusCodeBets are going to take you through three alternatives that Juventus could target ahead of the 2024/25 Serie A campaign.

Rayan Aït-Nouri

Wolves left-back Ryan Aït-Nouri should be one of the top transfer targets for Juventus this summer, as he’s a player with a bright future ahead of him, as well as performing to a high standard at a high level in the Premier League in recent months in particular. The 22-year-old has been with Wolves since 2021, and has made 107 appearances in total for them since moving from French side Angers.

Aït-Nouri has proved effective both defensively and in attacking areas, and would be a useful player to have in any squad. His current contract with Wolves is set to expire in two years, although the club hold an option to extend his contract by a further year if they wish to do so. Juventus would have competition to land Aït-Nouri’s signature though, as Liverpool and Chelsea are just some of the teams rumoured to be keen on a deal to sign the full-back.

Kieran Tierney

Tierney has been with Arsenal since 2019, after making the move to The Emirates in 2019, after impressing with Scottish giants, Celtic. The Scottish international has found regular game time hard to come by in recent years, and so it wasn’t at all surprising to see Tierney depart the club on a temporary basis in the summer of 2023, as he moved to Real Sociedad. With two years remaining on his current deal with Arsenal, it’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for Tierney, as he’s unlikely to be able to force his way into the starting XI with Arsenal anytime soon.

Tierney might not be at his best level at this moment in time, but he’s still more than capable of challenging Andrea Cambiaso for the starting spot at left-back in the current Juventus side. Competition for places is never a bad dilemma to have in a squad, as it can often bring out the best of players, and Juventus will be hoping that someone like Tierney could have that desired impact.

Miguel Gutiérrez

Gutiérrez has been on the books with high-flying Girona for two years now, having moved to them from Real Madrid, where he spent some time with the club’s first-team after breaking through from their youth teams. The left-back has gone from strength to strength since moving to Girona, and has been a regular in their team, which has been challenging for the LaLiga title this season.

The Spaniard has made 32 appearances in total for Girona in the 2023/24 season, and his performances are likely to see potential suitors register their interest in landing his signature this summer. At the age of 22, you’d like to think that Gutiérrez has his best years ahead of him, and a move to Juventus could give the ideal opportunity to play amongst some of Europe’s elite. One potential stumbling block could be Girona’s valuation of the defender, with Gutiérrez still having three years remaining on his current deal with the Spanish outfit.
