Atalanta star Gianluca Scamacca has stated that La Deaโs 3-0 win isnโt enough for them to knock out Liverpool from the Europa League, after the Serie A sideโs dominant triumph at Anfield.
Scamacca grabbed an important brace today and Mario Pasalic scored an important third to seal a vital win for Gian Piero Gasperiniโs men. They couldโve got more, but they were denied by some impressive goalkeeper in what was a superb showing from Gasperiniโs side.
Liverpool have a history of pulling off sensational comebacks and Scamacca was asked about the result by the press. He stated that he wonโt be fooled by the margin and that La Dea canโt sit on their 3-0 lead (via TMW).
โThereโs the return leg, I donโt want to be fooled by the enthusiasm, by the two goals. I have to stay calm for a moment, then weโll see next week. 3-0 isnโt enough.โ
He thanked his teammates for helping him get the brace and described it as a โfantasticโ night, but also reiterated that the margin isnโt enough.
โJokes aside, itโs a fantastic night because we believed in it from the start, weโre very happy, itโs the return. Itโs not much against them, 3-0 is not enough, you know.โ
Atalanta constantly threatened Liverpool on the counter-attack and the front three sparkled, as they showed signs of excellent link-up. Gasperini would hope for more of the same in the second leg.
