Bologna boss Thiago Motta hails Joshua Zirkzee

Bologna manager Thiago Motta has praised forward Joshua Zirkzee’s contributions to his side following a 2-1 victory over Lazio.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Italia via TMW, Thiago Motta was quick to heap praise on Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee who is having an incredible season as per the club’s standards. The 22-year-old scored the winner against Lazio and the three points from the match have lifted Bologna to 5th-place in the Serie A standings for now.

The 41-year-old manager likened Zirkzee’s impact at the club to Ronaldindo’s at Barcelona and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He said: “I remember Ronaldinho from Barcelona, he was something extraordinary. I’ve never seen a player of this level when he was in form. Ibra the same, given the career he’s had. Joshua is Joshua, he’s special, I hope he continues like this and I won’t compare him to anyone. He plays well but above all he works, I will never stop saying that from the first day of training camp, he has always been the first to work and has become a leader. He must continue like this and we must help him continue like this because this is on the right path.”

Thiago Motta is making The Rossoblu dream this season and it will be a massive achievement for him if they manage to secure European football for next term. Joshua Zirkzee has scored nine goals and registered three assists this campaign as he is playing a huge role in leading his team’s charge in the Italian league.

The Dutchman has been linked with both Milan and Napoli, but Arsenal and Manchester United are also said to be interested in him.
