Bologna boss Thiago Motta on interest from bigger clubs: “Happy and proud”

Bologna boss Thiago Motta has refused to get carried away by the links with multiple clubs across Europe in recent weeks.

Considering that Motta are in the top four of the Serie A, it is fairly natural for the Rossoblu to earn praise and while a lot of the squad’s players have attracted attention, Motta has been the centre of the project and he too has been linked with jobs like Juventus, Milan and even Barcelona.

It has been stated that the former midfielder could depart Bologna in the summer but things could yet change, if the side finish inside the top four.

Motta spoke to the press at Gran Galà dello Sport in Castiglion Fiorentino (via TMW) and he was asked about his future at the club.

“Since I started this job, which I was lucky enough to be able to start straight away, I immediately understood that it was my great passion after playing football. As a coach the responsibilities change. You have to bring together many like-minded kids in different way, but you have to make them play together. I feel very good today and I don’t really think about my future, because we are living such a beautiful moment that I want to enjoy it. When the future arrives I will think about it.”

Motta did mention that he is ‘proud’ of the attention from other clubs but also stated that his attention remains at Bologna.

“Certainly, I am happy and proud. It is a great pleasure to have the recognition for our team, but not only for the results which so far are very good, but also for the way in which we are conquering them on the field, respecting the game and the opponent, respecting our work. The boys know why we are there and how important it is to continue like this until the end of the season.”

Bologna are at fourth in Serie A and are three clear of fifth-placed Roma and five behind third-placed Juve.
