Francesco Acerbi’s Inter future uncertain amidst racism allegations

Inter defender Francesco Acerbi’s stint at the Serie A giants could be coming to an end at the conclusion of the current season.

The racism case involving Acerbi is being investigated and developments did take place yesterday, but both the players will be spoken to by the Prosecutor soon to get their version of events about what happened on Sunday.

Corriere della Sera state today that the prosecutor has taken no decision about what happened and Giuseppe Chine will be speaking to the two players soon in the next two days. Acerbi denies having racially abused Juan Jesus, who sticks to his stance that he was racially abused by the Inter man.

Yesterday, Acerbi met Inter CEO Beppe Marotta in the morning. He confessed to him that he didn’t make any racial remarks about Jesus, stating that it is a position that he intends to defend whenever he meets the prosecutor for his hearing about the case. The likelihood is that the meeting will take place tomorrow.

If it is confirmed that Acebri did make racially offensive remarks, he would be suspended for a minimum of ten matches and the reason why Inter haven’t released a statement is that their decision will also depend on the outcome. If he is found guilty, is is very likely that the Nerazzurri will sell Acerbi in the summer even though his contract runs out in the summer of 2025.
