How UEFA Coefficients updated after Atletico Madrid’s win over Inter

Serie A league leaders Inter were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Atletico Madrid, who won on penalties and progressed to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Inter being knocked out means that no Italian teams are left in the Champions League anymore and they’d have to rely on the Europa League and the Conference League to improve their UEFA Coefficient, which is now getting closer and closer at the top.

After yesterday, the gap between Italy and second-placed Germany reduced. Italy do remain at the top with four teams still left in European competitions and have a total of 16,571 points. Germany are second with 15,928 points and they too have four teams left.

England are third with six teams left and have exactly 15,000 points. France are at fourth with 14,416 points but the disadvantage for them is that they have only three teams left in European competitions. This could mean that the two new Champions League spots seem likely to come from two of England, Italy or Germany as things seem tight between them.

Italy though, are relying on Atalanta, Milan, Roma and Fiorentina.
