Simone Inzaghi is expected to prolong his stay at Inter despite rumours of him leaving for Liverpool.
According to a report by Davide Stoppini of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool have expressed an internal interest in securing the services of Simone Inzaghi as a new manager after Jurgen Klopp’s departure at the end of the campaign. However, Inzaghi is keen to stay at Inter as he has created a winning side capable of clinching more silverware in the past three years.
“At the end of the season, we will take stock of these three years together,” were the words of the Nerazzurri coach after the Genoa match but the expression is predicted not to indicate a departure. He has gained the confidence of the management and the players since ending up as runners-up in the Champions League last season. Due to his services, the club is set to offer him a renewal which would significantly increase his salary from the current €5.5 million net.
Inzaghi has nearly materialised the signings of Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi for the summer transfer window as he is set to continue his journey as Inter manager for a few more years. Considering both family reasons and sporting ambitions, staying with the current league leaders seems to be the best option in the long run for the Italian manager.
