Inter CEO Beppe Marotta comments comparisons between Alex Ferguson and Simone Inzaghi

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta was asked about a comparison between Serie A leaders’ boss Simone Inzaghi and former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Inter picked up a deserved 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League as they put in a dominant performance. They should’ve scored more but Marko Arnautovic’s second half goal was enough to win the tie.

Before the game, Marotta was asked by Mediaset (via FCInter1908) about Inzaghi and potential comparisons with Sir Alex. Marotta brought about a difference between the two, but hailed Inzaghi’s approach and vision for the game and the impact he’s had at Inter.

“Ferguson or Guardiola, there is a 10-12 year difference of experience on the pitch between him and the most popular coaches. His path is extraordinary to date, he arrived on tiptoe and endured a period of criticism by overcoming it and today he is a coach who applies a very beautiful footballing method and therefore we enjoy it and we would like him to manage for as long as possible.”

Inzaghi’s Inter really impressed against Atleti, as they often cut them to shreds and should’ve scored more. They are already nine points clear the top of the table in the Serie A, while having a game in hand.
