Inter CEO Beppe Marotta on Lautaro Martinez-PSG links: “I don’t see the difference between us and PSG”

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has denied talk involving Lautaro Martinez and Paris Saint-Germain, ahead of the Serie A league leaders’ clash against Salernitana.

Martinez was on target for Inter against Salernitana as the Nerazzurri raced to a 2-0 lead in 20 minutes. The Argentine had scored after his strike partner Marcus Thuram had scored two minutes earlier.

Martinez has been linked with signing a new deal at Inter and talk has been rumbling on for months now. He has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in recent days and Marotta was asked about the links. He told Sky Italia (via La Gazzetta dello Sport) that there is nothing behind the talk and Inter are at the same level as PSG.

He said: “An additional risk without renewal? We take risks every day, football is also made of things like this… There are no signs in this sense and if there were we would manage them in the best way. We don’t let ourselves be influenced by the media because we are Inter and I don’t see the difference between us and PSG. Maybe they have different aims but we have strong ownership.”

Inter’s Martinez is currently the top scorer in Serie A and apart from being likely to sign a new deal at the Nerazzurri, he seems likely to finish the season as the topscorer as well.
