Inter chief Piero Ausilio confirms optimism about Lautaro Martinez’s contract extension

Piero Ausilio, sporting director at Serie A giants Inter, has provided a fresh insight into the club’s efforts to tie star frontman Lautaro Martinez down to a new contract.

The subject of Lautaro’s terms at San Siro have of course long taken their place front and centre in the headlines on the blue half of the Milan divide.

This comes amid what are beginning to feel like drawn out negotiations between the Inter brass, and their talisman, over a new long-term agreement.

Lautaro, for his part, has enjoyed another stellar campaign in front of goal to date.

All told, across 29 appearances in all competitions, the Argentine has racked up 22 goals and five assists, spearheading the Nerazzurri’s Scudetto charge.

Speaking whilst in attendance at the 19th Amici dei Bambini Tournament on Wednesday night, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Lautaro’s future, once more, was put to the aforementioned Piero Ausilio.

And the Inter chief went on to call for calm, adamant that, ‘in the end’, an agreement which satisfies all parties will be found, suggesting an optimism in this reagrd:

“If he (Lautaro) said that there is time left and there is trust, I don’t see why I shouldn’t confirm it,” Ausilio began, as cited by Tuttomercatoweb.

“There is trust above all because there is the same intention, both parties want to extend this relationship. It is normal that since there is a negotiation in course, patience is needed as with all things. The times you have are not the ones we have, but I am sure that in the end an agreement will be reached that will satisfy both parties because that is what we want.”
