Inter hit stalemate in contract talks for Denzel Dumfries

Serie A giants Inter have hit a stalemate in their contract talks for Dutch wing-back Denzel Dumfries.

Dumfries has often been linked with an exit from Inter but under Simone Inzaghi, he has witnessed a rebirth of sorts. But his future still remains uncertain.

La Gazzetta dello Sport today report about contract talks hitting a snag. In the autumn of 2023, Inter had tried to seal a new deal for the Dutchman when talks were ongoing for Federico Dimarco and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The renewal was taking shape and soon, Dumfries changed agents. He began to represented by Wasserman instead of Rafaela Pimenta and an issue soon arrived.

The removal of the Growth Decree also played a role in this and the player’s ambitions changed. Dumfries’ demands for a new deal went beyond what Inter could afford. Inter had offered €4 million per season in their offer, but Dumfries responded with a request of €5.5 million. As a result, talks broke down.

And if talks don’t resume and a renewal isn’t signed, Dumfries will most likely depart the club in the summer and Inter would look to use that money to sign other players.
