Inter’s Massimiliano Farris following Empoli win: “I have known Francesco since his days at Lazio, I know that he is not a racist”

Following the Nerazzurri’s vital 2-0 victory over Empoli at the Stadio San Siro in match-week 30 of the Serie A, Inter assistant coach Massimiliano Farris provided his perspective of the fixture in a post-match interview.

The Milanese club gained an early lead as Alessandro Bastoni found Italian compatriot Federico Dimarco in the middle of the box with an exquisite delivery. The 25-year-old wing-back struck the ball one-time with brilliant technique, letting it fly past Elia Capile to seize the opening goal within the first five minutes.

In the latter stages of the match, a perfectly weighted squared-pass from Dutch international Denzel Dumfries along the box to find Alexis Sanchez enabled the Chilean veteran to double the Beneamata’s lead and secure all three points on home soil.

As it stands, Inter find themselves at the top of the league table with 79 points, 14 points clear of second-place Milan. The Nerazzurri are just three wins away from securing their 20th scudetto before their cross-city rivals, which would permit them to obtain a second star on their jerseys ahead of next year’s season.

While speaking into the microphones of DAZN Italia, as relayed by FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri assistant coach gave his inisght on Inter’s performance against Empoli as a result of Simone Inzaghi having lost his voice while on the touchline:

Nicolo Barella’s impressive display:

“This season of his is one of the highest level. He came back energized by the goal he scored for the national team, we had many players out and therefore the words for him also apply to the others. After an evaluation by the staff, I would say that we did better in the second half and the substitutions gave us a great hand in bringing the game home.”

Francesco Acebri’s return to the squad after the altercation with Juan Jesus against Napoli:

“There was quite an uproar, we waited for his return to talk. We all sided with him after he told us that he had not uttered racist words. I have known Francesco since his days at Lazio, I know that he is not a racist at all. I hope that the episode is closed and that we only talk about football.”

The last four goals come from defenders, as well Alessandro Bastoni accumulating three assists:

“It means the quality of the kids, we give the score but they know how to play the instruments. Everything works very well, the mobility of the defenders but the ability of the midfielders to cover spaces is a team effort that works very well. Then if Dimarco or another defender scores it’s great, we know how much he wears the Inter shirt and this attachment makes us happy.”

Lautaro Martinez’s dry run of form:

“He arrived last and made himself available, he is captain in everything. Then there is a moment of cloudiness, but the quality is unquestionable. I would like to add that in some matches he hasn’t scored but the work that he, Thuram, Arnautovic and Sanchez do gives us a great help when not in possession and puts us in a position to score. Then tonight came a goal from the defenders and one from the substitutes.”
