Juventus’ Max Allegri reiterates Champions League target after Lazio loss

Juventus boss Max Allegri has reiterated the club’s target of qualifying for the Champions League after the side’s 1-0 loss to Lazio.

The Bianconeri’s opponents today were rivals Lazio, who saw new manager Igor Tudor take charge of affairs for the first time since replacing Maurizio Sarri on a permanent basis. And they got a huge win, as an Adam Marusic header in stoppage handed the Roman side all three points.

But as he has done in the past, Allegri made it clear thar Juve are perhaps on target and that target is finishing inside the Champions League spots.

He told the press: “In these moments of difficulty we must remain calm and concentrate on what we have to do. Football always gives you the opportunity to reverse the moment. In the league, we are 5 points ahead of fifth and we know that we have to fight to get into one of those places.”

He also spoke about the performance, praising the effort put in by the players despite a rather harrowing loss. He also stated that Juve can’t blame themselves for the loss.

“There are moments of the season where we just have to think about working and finding the solution to the problem, the boys played a good game tonight too and I have nothing to reproach them for. I told him to stay calm, on Tuesday we will play the first leg of the semi-final and fate is in our hands. In these moments, more than ever, you need serenity. I’m very sorry that the boys put in everything they had to do, they have nothing to blame themselves for.”

Bologna have played one game less than Juve and if they win that game, the gap between Juve and the Rossoblu will be only two points.
