Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri slams Serie A for fixture scheduling

Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri has been criticial of Serie A before the club’s league clash against Bologna today.

The Roman side faced Bologna at the back of their 1-0 win over Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Round of 16 of the Champions League. They had played their game on Wednesday, but a lot of their games this season at the weekend have been early kick offs. That was the case again today, against the Rossoblu.

Sarri spoke to Sky Italia (via TMW) before the game kicked off and he mocked Serie A for the scheduling for Lazio games. The Italian said:

“We have to move forward match after match, without looking at anything. We sincerely thank the Lega Serie A because they ambushed us again by making us play another match at 12.30 after a Champions League match played on Wednesday evening. The objective today is the match, without thinking about the past or the future. The match”.

He was asked about squad rotation and how he planned to put in the XI that featured against Bologna. Sarri revealed that the club doesn’t have many options.

“We have to look at the situations, at the moment we don’t have many possibilities and we have to grit our teeth.”

At the time of writing, Lazio are 1-0 up because of a Gustav Isaksen goal and they are currently seventh in the table but still have a chance of playing in he Champions League next season.
