Lazio will consider Maurizio Sarri’s future, club CEO Claudio Lotito confirms

Lazio CEO Claudio Lotito has revealed in an unofficial statement that the Serie A club will consider Maurizio Sarri’s future at the end of the season.

Lazio lost to Fiorentina in the league recently, denting their hopes of qualifying for the top four or top five. Before their win against Torino, they had lost to fellow top four rivals Bologna as well and things don’t quite seem on track despite a first leg Champions League win over Bayern Munich.

Il Messaggero (via TMW) have reported about the situation at Lazio, stating some statements that have been made informally by Lotito to the Roman outlet. He stated that the loss to Fiorentina isn’t down to the transfer window and Sarri’s position will be considered at the end of the season.

“The squad is strong and competitive, Sarri should assume his responsibilities together with the team, instead of always finding alibis. The market has nothing to do with the defeat of Florence and the others nine. At the end of the season we will make a definitive assessment.”

Disturbances at the club have existed for a while now and there has previously been talk of Lotito and Sarri not being on good terms. Considering all of that, this isn’t a surprise.
