Nemanja Matic is close to agreeing a move to join Lyon, just six month after leaving Serie A for another Ligue 1 side Rennes.
According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio,, the 35-year-old defensive midfielder has decided to stay in France rather make a switch to Turkey to join Besiktas.

Matic is reportedly ready to sign an two-and-a-half year deal with Lyon, following an unsettled time with his current employer. The player has requested the move, because there is no branch of the international school where his children attend, in Rennes. Matic has also failed to show up for training recently and has not been in the squad since a goalless draw in Toulouse on December 17.
The Serbian international, who made his debut for his country way back in 2008, made 35 appearances in Serie A for Roma after re-uniting with his former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho in the summer of 2022.
