Marcus Thuram’s impressive impact at Inter highlighted by numbers

Serie A giants Inter have landed arguably the best signing of the season as newbie Marcus Thuram is living up to his billing far better than expected.

According to a statistical research by Sky Italia, being one of the most decisive players on the final thirds this season, Marcus Thuram has emerged as a perfect attacking ally for Lautaro Martinez, something which was last seen during the Nerazzurri’s last Scudetto-winning campaign when the Argentine and Romelu Lukaku partnered up front.

With the goal versus Roma in Inter’s previous matchday, the Frenchman totalled his goal tally to nine goals till now in the Serie A. Additionally, he has registered ten assists, and his work rate and gameplay awareness are commendable. The 26-year-old has played an incredible role in the last two matches as he forced two own-goals each against Juventus and Roma.

Thuram is considered a man of big games as out of the nine he scored this term, six came in high-profile matches against Roma (home and away), Milan, Fiorentina, Napoli and Lazio. He also scored once against the Biancocelesti in the Supercoppa Italiana ultimately leading his side to lift the trophy in the final. He has also won four penalties in all competitions for Inter and has had a hand in 35 percent of their goals, which is a huge number.

Inter fans were divided at the start of the season when their club went to bet on Marcus Thuram instead of former star man Romelu Lukaku. However, all doubts have been cleared for them now after stupendous performances from the Frenchman. They are on their course to lift yet another Scudetto and their new signing’s performances are noteworthy of mentioning.
