Milan president Paolo Scaroni reacts to postponement of Bologna clash

Milan president Paolo Scaroni expressed his thoughts surrounding the postponement of the clubโ€™s match against Bologna

Speaking in an interview with the press (via TMW), Paolo Scaroni voiced his opinion about the suspension of the match between Milan and Bologna at the Stadio Dallโ€™Ara this weekend. He said: โ€œAn incomprehensible decision. Mayor Lepore has prohibited the match behind closed doors. I donโ€™t understand why but in the face of the Mayorโ€™s order we bow our headsโ€.

The mayor announced his decision to postpone the game after consulting with the Police Commissioner and the Prefect of the stadium area as the city of Bologna has been affected by heavy rains and flooding since October 19. Intense restoration works are underway in the Porto-Saragozza district where the Renato Dallโ€™Ara is located and the city authorities felt the need to stop the contest for security reasons.

The statement released from the mayorโ€™s office highlighted the critical nature of the present situation and justified that the advisory was in the interest of the people. While the clubs appealed for the match to be played behind closed doors, the possibility was rejected by the mayor citing safety concerns.ย
